Hazy Weather and More Weddings.

Posted on Updated on

There’s haze everywhere in Kuala Lumpur and Shah Alam where I stay. Visibily is quite scarce when we drive through the highway. Despite the rain that comes occasionally there’s not much of a difference . I have to be careful not to expose myself out there as I’ve quite recently recovered from my Asthma .

A week ago saw the School Holiday Season and there weddings here and every where. I’ve been busy with orders for weddings and engagement’s gift for order for Strawberry Tarts and Pineapple Tarts.

Drink Plenty Of water and Eat Fresh Pineapple

Posted on Updated on

There’s Haze everywhere this time around the area where I stay. The weather lately is very dry and dusty. Its advisable I take a cold bath at predawn before Subuh prayer and religiously drink exceptionally more plain water than I really do now to avoid dehydration. Not forgetting is my favourite fruit fresh pineapple. I incorporate pineapple in a lot of my daily chores for example in my cili paste ie “Sambal Belachan Nenas”, yellow thick gravy of “Masak Lemak Cili Api Nenas with Prawns”…hmmm yummy so delicious.

Haze in Kuala Lumpur

In these hazy weather condition I have to be very careful not to catch asthma again. I had a tough experience when I was down with asthma during my Umrah Pilgrimage this year in February when the weather in Medina was cold.

Flood In Thailand

Posted on Updated on

The disastrous flood in Thailand seems to be never ending. I prayed and hope this calamity will not happen in Malaysia. And I also prayed that the flood will subside gradually in Bangkok. The economic impact not only affected their local citizen but also indirectly trade and commerce in Malaysia as quite a number of consumer items are imported from Thailand. Schools and offices are closed, hence education is badly affected.

Other that the daily consumption items like rice Malaysia also depended alot of its vegetable and fruits like pineapple and citrus fruits from Thailand.

Baking and Cooking Tips

Thank you for those who drop by and read my entries on this simple blog in 2010. I am not aiming to make profit this year writing this blog but  just as an expression of what I have passion in doing. I have something which I have planned to do next year on my homemade cookies and tarts and I hope it works as I will be moving back to Shah Alam following my husband’s optional (early) retirement.

I wish to apologise some of the Pineapple recipes I attached do not have photos as they are from my family’s collection which I did not expect I will blog about.  However next year  ie. tomorrow onwards I will add a new category on baking and cooking tips regardless whether cooking with or without pineapple  as the ingredient.

Healthy Eating of Vegetables and Fruits

Posted on Updated on

This is the last day of September. surprisingly I manage  to squeeze some  time, in fact couple of days to submit a few posts, something which I rarely have the time to do previously. However I have budgeted the time to research this subject as health, nutrition and weight management is  my main aim which set to achieve within the next 3 months!!!

Writing these posts means reminding myself that I am bound to follow what I write. Most importantly I must follow some quick tips religiously to maintain my ideal weight. ( My BMI has shot to 26! ) My ideal BMI is 25. Ooops!!! that’s quite high. Well I have to intensify my activities to burn calories and watch my diet. That means  loosing 7700 calories to lose 1 kg of  my body weight.  Sound’s like impossible to achieve. Like I mentioned in my previous posts I am not a person who like to diet. I eat what I like ,that’s the reason why I am what I eat… So, to get back my ideal  BMI I have to work hard in my weight management.

I am now starting  to draw line in my calorie intake and follow these quick tips on eating lots of vegetables and fruits by :-

1. Keeping my kitchen stocked with ingredients from the Healthy Eating Pyramid… concentrate on vegetables , fruits and protein. Always keeping  fruits like pineapple, strawberries, bananas, apple etc on the table and at the front rows in my fridge. This is one way I will always eat it.

2.Taking my daily meals by filling half the plate with vegetables of  other varieties.

3.Choosing vegetables and fruits that are packed with more nutrients and slow digested carbs.

4. Trying to cook a health recipe that always include pineapple that can be eaten raw, making a dish, or even snack.

5.Taking at least low-fat dairy products with less sodium as health snack like yogurt and fiber cereals.

I just made a pineapple recipe and  using strawberries which is a health snack.

1/2 cup cut pineapples

1/2 cup strawberries  cut lengthwise

1/2 cup unsweetened pineapple juice

3/4 cup plain low-fat yogurt

Combine all ingredients.

Put in a blender.

Puree at medium speed until thick and smooth.

Place about 15 mins in the fridge and serve.
